Caliński and Corsten (1986; Biometrics 41, 39-48) proposed the FTP procedure for extracting homogeneous groups in ANOVA. Zieliński (1998; biom. Letters 35, 67-75) modified the FTP procedure. His W procedure appeared to be better than FTP in the sense of the probability of the correct decision. The paper is devoted to optimization of W procedure.
